We The French School had organised a trip to Koobi Fora the scientific site of international repute of our prehistoric ancestors. With enthusiasm Halewijn offered his support and organised the base camp on the lake shore, transport and accommodation. Halewijn was well known for organizing camping safaris within the French school community. When we arrived, he and Joyce were waiting for us and within short order and in a most efficient way, Halewijn generously entrusted us with his best camping equipment, boats and coxswains for several days.

We shall remember him as a straight forward gentleman standing for justice, freedom, fairness and honesty who supported numerous people from remote regions. We will also remember him for steering the way forward for the protection and defence of wildlife as well as his concern and help towards this end. Thankyou Halewijn for this precious moment towards conservation.
